Tai-Rel is a magical world that has been inspired by Termina from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. It’s the setting for the game The Tales of Tai-Rel.

There are four major regions surrounding the central city of Spidlar. They are The Kyphros Mountains to the north of the Spidlar, The Heldyn Desert to the east of Spidlar, The Hallowed Forest to the south of Spidlar, and the Naclos Coast to the west of Spidlar. See ASCII Map for travel times.

There are three major races in Tai-Rel. They are the Dwarves, Elves, and Humans. Percentage-wise, Tai-Rel is about 75% Human, 10% Dwarf, 10% Elf, and 5% everything else. The Dwarven homeland is in The Kyphros Mountains, the Elven homeland is in the outskirts of The Hallowed Forest and the Humans live in the flat lands between the two and along Naclos Coast.

Each race has it’s own governmental structure. The Dwarves have a monarchy advised by The Longbeard Thane. Each subrace of elves elect a member of their own to their ruling council known as The Triumvirate. Finally the Humans are ruled by a duke appointed by the Emperor, the Duke of Spidlar.

Conflict between Races

Everyone is currently peaceful, though there is conflict between the Dwarves and the Humans due to high tariffs on goods traveling through The Kyphros Mountains. Since the land route is the safest way to get to The Empire it is preferred over the sea route. There is also conflict between the Elves and Dwarves, though no one is quite sure how that started (I tried and failed to find the clip from AtLA with the two tribes and “Redemption!”. —Kylie). The Elves and the Humans have some lasting bitterness due to prior conquest of Spidlar and it’s surrounding territory by the humans. Though that was more than two human lifetimes ago, so the humans have largely moved on, while the Elves haven’t.
